Add a little life to your life.

So, this is a quick story about some beautiful flowers.
I love having flowers in my room, and ever since getting back to Columbus I've meant to get down to North Market to buy some.  Well, I was down that way and just happened to stop in at Kroger.  They had a bunch of flowers on "Managers Special" and I got one huge bundle for $4 and then little potted bulbs for $2 each!  So many great flowers for $12.

I gave some of the potted plants away: Becky, Katie, Taylor and kept the yellow put for myself.  They're very photogenic flowers, and I love having them around.

Someone yesterday on a blog I was reading said they were "worth the weekly investment" and I don't know about all that, but I was happy to shell out $12 for so much happiness.  I even have a few stems in a small glass vase in my bathroom- brushing my teeth is so much better now!  Haha.

Here's a detailed look:

My favorite flower is a peony with a close second hydrangeas.  I like the soft beauty of those flowers, but they don't do the best for indoor cut flower arrangements.  I also love carnations simply because they last for weeks!  They'll be the last to wilt out of my bouquet.  What is your favorite flower?

...lights the whole sky.

Even after all this time the sun never says to the eath, "you owe me."
Look what happens with a love like that, it lights the whole sky.
-Hafiz

I love this quote, and I have loved this image of it for years now.  The story behind the image is a litle unknown, but I think it comes from the side of a building somehwere, sort of like positive graffiti.  I feel sorry that I don't know more about the creator of the mural or the photographer because I'd love to give credit where credit is due.

This blank wall in my room was begging for something big.  I spent most of last semester pondering what I would put up.  I finally decided to use BlockPoster.com to make a giant image of the quote.  It's very simple: upload image, it breaks it into blocks (choose how big you want it) and then print, trim edges, tape together (one row at a time) and then wah-la!

I love it for many reasons, but it ties in with the rest of my room, matches my new comforter, and is just bright- and dark!- enough to balance this wall.

And see how my bed is made?  New Years Resolution.
I feel awkward when people see my bed all ragged and not made.  I'm trying my best to make it every day, but afternoon naps are a problem in my life.

Also you can see my IKEA lamp here to the right.  It's suspending from the ceiling with eye hooks I screwed into the tiles.

Five Things

I'm not taking any credit for this idea.  One of the blogs I love to follow is Cupcakes & Cashmere.  Emily (who writes C&C) does a post frequently called "Five Things" and I'm taking her idea and running with it.  She writes about 5 things in her life at that time she's thankful for or that she has in her life that she loves and adores.  Some of it is actual items, but more often than not it's time spent with loved ones or a new experience.

So I'll start posting my Five Things here.
Probably because it's my first attempt I'll have them all in one picture.  In the future look for separate pictures for each item on the 5 things list.

My elephant mug from the Antonacci family which I love
Pineapple Chamomile lipton hot tea
Sweet Tarts chewy little nuggets of goodness
My Kindle because I saved a boat load renting text books (notice Emily's blog on my screen)
Elle Decor. I love this magazine for it's content and for how great it looks in my room
